Last month, Beverley D.H.S students from Kindy to Year 10 participated in National Tree Planting Day.

By now, we all know of the ongoing long-term damage caused by historic clearing of at least 70% of the Avon River Basin.

A dose of good advice goes a long way when tackling difficult revegetation sites like saline waterways. Supported by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulations’ Clean Waterways funding and Wheatbelt NRM, 14 community members took advantage of the opportunity to learn from two of the wheatbelt’s most experienced and knowledgeable native seed propagators in Rob and Beth Boase.

The release of the European rabbit, cat, and red fox into Australia in the 1800s has had an immeasurable impact on the country’s flora, fauna and farming industry. Rabbits alone are estimated to cause $600 million worth of damage to agriculture each year.

With planting projects scheduled from June onwards, now is the time to finalise your preparation for revegetation sites.
