Gear Up for Tree Planting Season
Now that Tropical Cyclone Narelle has delivered welcome rain across the region, it’s time to start thinking about the 2026 planting season.
Last month, the Healthy Environments team highlighted the importance of good site preparation for successful revegetation projects through their article on Autumn Action for Winter Planting.
To help landholders get planting-ready, Wheatbelt NRM has equipment available for hire to support site preparation, feral animal management and planting.
This equipment is also available to the broader community, although Wheatbelt NRM project holders will receive priority access. For project holders, equipment hire costs have already been incorporated into project budgets.
To enquire about hiring any of the items below, please contact one of our Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators: Aimee on 0436 396 233 or Jacquie on 0499 389 134.
Equipment available for hire
Ripper-mounder
Available for $120 per day, the ripper-mounder is a useful tool for revegetation site preparation. If you are undertaking your own revegetation project, get in touch to check availability.
Fox and feral cat traps
A limited number of traps are available for $20 per week. Please note that captured animals must be euthanised humanely, which requires access to someone with a valid firearms licence. It may also be worth checking with your local shire before hiring, as your ranger may be able to assist.
Potti putkis and kidney buckets
For the planting season, we also have a number of potti putkis and kidney buckets available. These can be hired as a pair for $10 per day and are ideal for hand-planting seedlings.
Good luck with your upcoming tree planting season! Preparation really does pay off.
