Wheatbelt NRM is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information and ensuring the confidentiality of organisational information. This policy outlines how we collect, store, use, and disclose personal and confidential information in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other relevant legislation.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal information will only be collected if necessary for Wheatbelt NRM activities and functions.
Personal information includes any information or opinion about an individual whose identity is obvious or can reasonably be discovered from that information or opinion. The type of information Wheatbelt NRM collects is generally confined to:

· Email address
· Phone number
Personal information that is collected will be lawful and reasonable, and where practicable, directly from the individual. Personal information will only be collected from third parties where it is unreasonable or impracticable to collect it directly from the individual, and where the individual has provided consent or would reasonably expect it.

Personal information will not be disclosed to any third party without the individual’s written consent, unless authorised or required by law.
Confidential information will be disclosed only where necessary for legitimate organisational operations or with the express written authority of Wheatbelt NRM.
Storage and Security
Personal information will be stored securely and protected from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
Information will be stored securely. Only Representatives that require access to personal information will be granted access, and that right is only granted for appropriate use as required for business purposes.
Access and Correction
Individuals may request to view their personal information on file and to have their information corrected if inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading.
Data Breaches
Wheatbelt NRM complies with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. If an eligible data breach occurs, affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) will be notified in accordance with legal requirements.
All contracts where confidential information or personal information is being used or created must include provisions requiring compliance with this policy and applicable privacy legislation.
