‘Salinity is not a barrier to production’

Farmers across the Wheatbelt have led the way in management practices to manage and prevent salinity, with varying success. However some people believe that this land must become productive in order for agriculture in the Wheatbelt to remain profitable in the future.

Should this saline environment be treated as wasteland, or are there are ways to make this land profitable? Wheatbelt NRM would like to explore the topic through a debate at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
