Free Trees 2022

Healthy Environments

In July, we held Community Free Trees days throughout the Wheatbelt. Each year we aim to reach different areas of the Wheatbelt, and this year we travelled to Corrigin, Newdegate, Goomalling, Wickepin and Westonia as well as holding one from our office based in Northam.

The Free Trees days allow the Wheatbelt NRM staff to meet people within the community, encourage planting natives and share information about different species. Perhaps most exciting is the opportunity to discuss with community the work we do, and the current projects landholders can get involved in.

We had over 200 people come down to say hello and grab some free trees, and we gave out over 4000 seedlings! It was great to see so many people excited about planting natives and we had some valuable conversations about how we could support the work they’re doing or planning to do on their properties.

We also had the chance to provide seedlings to 14 schools throughout the Wheatbelt for National Tree Day.

Thank you to everyone that came and supported our event, and to Plantrite Wholesale Native Nursery for providing the seedlings for this season's revegetation activities.

This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
