Healthy Soils Healthy Rivers Special Small Grants Program 2026/27
Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management are supporting local community groups to undertake on-ground activities along the Avon River that directly improve water quality and soil health through the Healthy Soils Healthy Rivers Special Small Grants Program 2026-2027, funded by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
How to get involved:
Community groups looking to actively improve riparian management and biodiversity along the Avon River (specifically the sub-catchments of the Lower Avon, Middle Avon, Upper Avon, Brockman, Mortlock North, Mortlock East and Dale catchments) are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Wheatbelt NRM for consideration by 30th September 2026. Funding of between $3,000 and $9,000 ex-GST is available per recipient group.
Proposed projects should contribute to at least one of the following outcomes:
⦁ Reducing nutrient runoff into waterways.
⦁ Bank stabilisation to repair or prevent foreshore erosion.
⦁ Protection of existing endemic flora.
⦁ Foreshore revegetation (endemic species).
⦁ Environmental weed control, including grasses, to promote natural regeneration.
⦁ Protecting the riparian zone, waterway and biodiversity by fencing to exclude livestock.
Approved projects must be completed and reported on by 31 December 2027.
