Seedlings are here! 200 hectares of revegetation
At times when global challenges and disruptions can make us feel small or powerless, planting trees is a simple way to regain a sense of agency. By focusing on what we can achieve in our own backyards, we stay grounded in the knowledge that individual actions matter. When we each play our part, those small contributions can grow into something truly significant.
Wheatbelt NRM is rolling out seedling deliveries across the region in June and July to service over 200 ha of revegetation across five different projects on over 20 properties. It’s a rewarding time of year for our staff, who take great pride in delivering high-quality, locally grown seedlings to landholders across the region. These deliveries mark the culmination of months of preparation, as landholders ready their sites and gear up to plant.
What many may not realise is that planning for this revegetation season began around 18 months ago. Significant effort goes into coordinating projects at this scale, from early design through to the logistics of planting and building and maintaining strong landholder relationships underpinned by reliability and clear communication.
We acknowledge that our landholders are our greatest asset and the true agents of change in the region. It is a privilege to support the community in managing and restoring this unique landscape.
If you want to be part of the cool crowd planting trees in their spare time, we are still looking for landholders to participate in our Black Cockatoo and Eucalypt Woodlands projects. If you don’t manage a large property and wonder how you can be part of this season’s revegetation efforts, come and see us at the Dowerin Machinery Field Days (26th – 27th Aug) where we are giving away a limited number of native seedlings suitable for the home garden.
