9th National NRM Knowledge Conference 2025
WA Delegates attending the NRM Knowledge Conference in Cairns, 2025
What do you get when you fill a convention centre with people passionate about the environment? Energy!
Over four jam-packed days, delegates from across the country explored a wide range of topics, from the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on future workplaces, to the implementation of the National Soil Monitoring Program, the impact of Corellas on the WA Wheatbelt, carbon management, and monitoring natural diversity, and much more. With so many engaging sessions on offer, choosing which to attend was no easy task!
Renata and Jacquie had a fantastic time networking with delegates from across WA and beyond. These connections help shape future directions and collaborations for various projects. Jacquie presented at two sessions and showcased a video on the Saltbush Carbon Project (https://youtu.be/wgBm0cG0fTY?si=woudgl89GlSaoewT), highlighting the collaboration between NRM regions and the importance of working together.
As part of the conference, Jacquie joined the Cultural Awareness Field Trip, visiting two Indigenous groups . It was inspiring to see the growth of Indigenous Ranger teams in the Cairns region, hear their stories, and witness their efforts to share culture and improve the lives of Indigenous people in their communities.
