Lake Ewlyamartup infrastructure nearing completion

Posted in:
Water

The Living Lakes project is working on Lake Ewlyamartup in Katanning to undertake engineering works to keep water in the lake for longer into the season and improve the water quality so the community can use this local and regional attraction for recreation over the summer.

The engineering works are nearing completion and the contractor is hoping they can beat the rising water to finish off the remaining work.

The rising water levels have put the new construction to the test and it is working well.

Once construction is finished we will be moving onto addressing the amenity of both Lake Ewly and Lake Yealering by contracting a landscape architect to work with the community to develop foreshore enhancement plans. Implementing these plans will be the last phase of this great project and will result in a beautiful community facility, protecting the natural environment and providing opportunities for tourism and community development.

The Living Lakes project is made possible by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

A Request for Quote is now out calling for submissions from a landscape architect. For more information on this opportunity please contact Bonny Dunlop-Heague on 0477 885 514 or bdunlop@wheatbeltnrm.org.au

Project manager Phil Kemp from JAK Civil and Consultant engineer Luke Tulloch from Wood and Grieve Engineers inspect the completed culvert.
