Corella Management Project

Wheatbelt NRM in partnership with Co-operative Bulk Handling Group (CBH Group) and the Avon Region of Councils (AROC) which includes the Shires of Victoria Plains, Goomalling, Toodyay, Northam and York, is coordinating the strategic management of corellas in the Wheatbelt.

Wheatbelt NRM employs a corella coordinator to work with stakeholders to determine how to best  manage the impact of corellas in this part of the Wheatbelt.

Long term methods of managing the birds will be developed through the project along with shorter term methods such as culling.

Shires have been interviewed for information on the 2023/24 social, economic and environmental impacts of corellas, and a management plan has been completed.

How to get involved?

  •  Help us understand corella behaviour by filling out our community survey. Community participation in this project is vital – submissions of photos showing where corellas are congregating and what they are doing is essential for our research.
