Young Voices Co-Designing the Wheatbelt of 2070
Wheatbelt NRM are proud to be collaborating with Millennium Kids to deliver a series of youth engagement forums across the wheatbelt in the coming months as part of our commitment to reviewing the Regional NRM Plan for the Avon River Basin.
The reviewed Regional NRM Plan will be presented at Wheatbelt NRM’s AGM to be held in Northam 15th October and will showcase the outcomes of the youth engagement.
Millennium Kids will facilitate the forums with the help of Wheatbelt NRM staff who have been trained in supporting groups through a process of “deliberative democracy”. By asking the children “What do you want your community to look like in 2070?”, Wheatbelt NRM hopes to understand the youth NRM priorities and gather their ideas of how to take action to support these priorities. A key part of this consultation processes is to give the children an opportunity to present their ideas to key decision makers including local politicians, thereby closing the loop on their consultation and contribution to the plan review.
If you are associated with a school in the Wheatbelt that would be interested in being a part of this process, please complete fill out an EOI here.
