Biosphere Boodja

Wheatbelt families are warmly invited to attend a new, volunteer-run arts festival in Goomalling from Sunday September 28 until Monday September 29, the Biosphere Boodja Arts & Wild Things Festival 2025

Free events include a clay-play tent for all ages, Australia's first crop circle exhibition showcasing the work of 12 clay artists and sculptors, a dusk puppet parade featuring giant puppets lanterns made by the children of Goomalling, and a grand finale of a light projection story onto two of the town’s distinctive grain domes.

Paid workshops can also be purchased, including demonstrations by leading ceramic artists, in the heart of WA’s clay country. The festival’s creative director, Goomalling-raised ceramic artist Fleur Schell, said a night of great musical performances and overnight camping options were also highlights of the King’s Birthday long weekend event.

“We are so excited to share the work of the children of Goomalling in a special showcase of the creativity and energy of my beautiful hometown. It’s something different to do with the family and so much cheaper than taking the kids to the Perth Royal Show!”.

The volunteer-run, community event is free to attend but online registration is needed to cater for attendance numbers and to reserve your entry wristband for pick up at the entry gate. Goomalling residents can register online and then pick up their wristbands in advance at the Goomalling Shire Council office.

Affordable camping options are available on the school oval for younger families, and on the bush golf course. The festival is also bringing hot air ballooning to Goomalling for the first time, with Liberty Balloon Flights making the trip from their base in Northam.

Local volunteers are warmly invited to register on the festival website www.biosphereboodja.com.
