Lake community facilities set to be improved

Water

We are finally at the last stage of our $3.7 million dollar Living Lakes project.

Supported by Royalties for Regions, engineering works have been installed to retain water in the lakes for longer, improving water quality and making them more usable by the public later into the summer.

Lake Yealering and Lake Ewlyamartup (Katanning) are both recreational lakes used by the local community as well as by tourists and other visitors.

Now the exciting bit comes – the foreshore development work that will improve the facilities and the visitor enjoyment at the Lakes.

Lake Yealering will have additional grassed areas, BBQs and seating as well as paths for disabled access, including proving access to the iconic jetty.

At Lake Ewlyamartup the focus is on improving pathways connecting the existing facilities as well as revegetation.

Both lakes will have interpretive signage, celebrating the local flora and fauna, history and cultural knowledge specific to the area.

Earthcare Australia will be commencing on this work – just in time for celebratory events later in the year.
