Meet Some Of Our Friends In The Tent

Posted in:
Community Engagement

Our mega tent is always a popular stop at Dowerin Field Days. This year our collective will feature everything from cuddly animals and bush tucker tastings through to community projects and agricultural innovations. We’d love to introduce you to some of our 2021 Friends In The Tent:

Landcare Farming

Australian farmers have a long and proud history of achieving exceptional landcare outcomes in environmental stewardship. The Landcare Farming Program vision is to continue this legacy and strengthen the connection between our farmers, the Australian agriculture stakeholders and to build resilience in a changing climate.

Landcare Farming will be featuring their “My Landcare Legacy” campaign at Dowerin Field Days. The campaign is collecting over 250 photos of Australian producers and land managers to showcase their passion and landcare legacy. There’ll be an opportunity for Wheatbelt farmers so share their stories and snap a shot in the “My Legacy” selfie frame.

Junior Landcarers will have the opportunity to take part in free activities and there is also the chance to win a great Landcare Farming prize pack.

LawrieCo

LawrieCo have a genuine passion for helping farmers. From creating hybrid farming systems and the harnessing the power of biological stimulants to create soil wealth to building soil carbon and growing more resilient crops, they have a strong focus on increasing sustainability into the future. The team from LawrieCo will be featuring products and information on their F75 coated MAP/DAP to stop phosphate lock-up in the soil. With a depot at Goomalling which supplies products prices locally, this display will be well worth a visit from Wheatbelt farmers and landholders.

Main Roads – Wheatbelt Revegetation Bank

“Creating vegetation corridors and enabling environmental approvals for road safety improvements”. That’s what Main Roads’ Wheatbelt Revegetation Bank is all about.

The Revegetation Bank offers a sustainable approach to providing environmental offsets and addressing the loss of native vegetation due to road safety projects. Finding quality remnant vegetation for environmental offsets is becoming increasingly challenging and availability is declining. Main Roads is keen to hear from Wheatbelt landowners who may be interested in selling cleared land alongside existing road reserves. They’re looking forward to meeting you at Dowerin.

Muresk Institute

Muresk Institute is a modern skills hub for agriculture. Our core focus is to work closely with our partners to bring the best industry driven training opportunities, knowledge and skills to Western Australia.

Through their partners, Muresk offers a wide range of nationally accredited courses, as well as workshops and professional development, selected from leading training providers and industry experts across the country.

Muresk is a place where students are given training opportunities at a working farm, whilst developing industry networks, with exposure to unique research projects.

The campus also boasts excellent facilities including student accommodation, conference and event facilities. Our training at Muresk Institute can lead to a diverse range of careers and employment opportunities within primary industries, agriculture and natural resource management.
