This year we have changed the approach to the AGM with a formal AGM being held with Members only to be followed by a “5-year Project Wrap-up” and Presentation on “New Directions” with leading-edge presenter Larissa Taylor, who is a Director of Savoir Consulting.

During the past year, Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management finalised its commitment to the 2018–23 Australian Government’s National Landcare Program (NLP) completing ten projects that have been focused on protecting natural resources of our region.

The Australian Government is offering up to $50 000 in Community Water Grants to provide support for community activities that promote wise water use. The Community Water Grant scheme targets projects involving on-ground activities that promote a culture of wise water use through water use efficiency, reuse or recycling and surface and groundwater health.

The Avon Catchment Council (ACC) has awarded 14 contracts to delivery organisations through a comprehensive Expression of Interest and Tendering process. The delivery organisations will undertake on ground delivery of the Council’s investment plan projects over the coming 12 months. These projects represent the first year of investment aimed at achieving 20 year targets in natural resource condition that are identified in the Avon NRM Strategy.

Six Community Board Members have been elected to the Board of the Avon Catchment Council.

Council has undertaken a structural review of the ACC board to better add value and strengthen governance within the organisation. To allow an equitable and transparent transfer to the new structure, the ACC has created a unique opportunity by declaring the six Community Board Member positions vacant for the 2006 elections.
