Calling Mixed Farmers in the Wheatbelt – Optimising fodder systems

Posted in:
Sustainable Agriculture

Increasing ground cover is an important tool to reduce the risk of wind erosion and improve soil health.

Wheatbelt NRM is pleased to launch a new project that will work with mixed farmers to assess what are the best options to keep ground cover for longer and assist in tackling the summer feed gap.

What fodder systems work best in our Wheatbelt landscape and what options are the most economically viable. How can we protect our fragile soils by maintaining ground cover most of the year?

A variety of opportunities for participation will be available and we are currently developing a list of mixed farmers in this region.

Currently in the planning phase register your interest now for the project roll out in the new year.

If you are interested in this project please contact Wheatbelt NRM Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitator (RALF) Jacquie Lucas on (08) 9670 3113 or jlucas@wheatbeltnrm.or.au.

This project is funded by the Australian Government National Landcare Program.
