New faces on board of Avon Catchment Council

A landholder from Tammin and a Professor from Curtin University have been appointed to the board of the Avon Catchment Council. Glenice Batchelor is chair of the Saltland Pastures Association and has been involved in landcare for the past decade. Murray McGregor is a Professor of Agribusiness and manages the research portfolio of the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre. They replace outgoing members Wayne Clarke from Toodyay and Pauline Guest who represents the Yilgarn catchment. The announcement was made after the ACC’s general meeting in Northam yesterday (Thursday, 23nd October 2008). The Avon Catchment Council is the peak community based natural resource management group covering 12 million hectares of the Avon River Basin. It has for the past four years operated on an annual budget of about 10 million dollars. Media contact: Peter Sullivan, CEO Avon Catchment Council; 9690 2250 Caption: ACC Board
