The 2017 Red Card for Rabbits and Foxes spring shoots are scheduled for:
- 20 - 22 October
- 17- 19 November
The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia WA (SSAAWA) sponsor the Red Card shoot events by donating $5 to the Regional Men’s Health Initiative for every fox and cat removed from the southwest.
If the crops are too high, you want to improve the success of your shoot events or you don’t have time to organise a shoot - cage trapping and baiting are very effective control options.
The Spring hot-baiting period is the 1 September to 30 November 2017.
This autumn saw the southwest community raise almost $13,000 – through the SSAAWA sponsorship program – for the Regional Men’s Health Initiative by removing 2,428 foxes and 150 cats from the environment.
Red Card for Rabbits and Foxes events have brought the community together across the southwest of WA since 2013 to reduce the damage feral animals are having on the local environment. Feral animals such as foxes and rabbits have a significant negative impact on species diversity in WA. Using a range of methods, including shooting, cage trapping and baiting can help to limit feral populations across your property.
Undertaking springtime Fox control will ensure you have the biggest impact on their population. Foxes are breeding and young are beginning to leave the den, making them easier to control and preventing the young foxes from maturing and colonising your property. By controlling foxes and other feral animals, not only will you reduce the impact they have on your lambs and crops, but you will also help native species to thrive on your property and surrounds.
