The most recent Aboriginal Elders Advisory Group meeting was held in June at Men of the Trees (MOTT) on the eastern edge of Perth CBD.

MOTT is a nursery located in Hazelmere that hopes to grow traditional bush foods for Wheatbelt NRM and Aboriginal Elders. Of particular interest to the Elders is the bush potato that MOTT have been successfully propagating. Elder Winnie McHenry is particularly keen on growing the bush potato at the Badgaling Community.

MOTT volunteer Wayne O’Sullivan gave the group an overview of the MOTT nursery, including its humble beginnings, how it was established, the plants it currently grows, and its reliance on volunteers. Elders were also given a bonus kangaroo paw to take home and plant.

Elders thoroughly enjoyed the day.
