Apparently not appreciating the humidity, Glenice did enjoy the opportunity to meet with the 56 Chairs of other regions from across Australia. The Chairs gather once a year to network and share knowledge. Glenice chaired and facilitated one of the sessions which happened to be on private sector partnerships so has brought back some great examples. All papers and presentations will soon be available on the website.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>The Knowledge Exchange Forum s original purpose was to develop messages to the NRM ministers including Burke and Garrett as well as state ministers at MINCO. Minister Redman represented WA this year. The key issues discussed included; Commitment to a National Governance system and a National resource condition monitoring system. The ongoing need for development of a set of National Environmental Accounts and how it fits with Monitoring and Evaluation. Landscape Carbon was a key theme and consideration of a national approach across the regions is underway. This funding will go towards establishing trials so that farmers can implement actions that will reduce wind erosion on their productive land. color:#698C66'>Avon River Basin regional soil acidity monitoring: Narembeen <o:p></o:p></span></b></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>Soil acidity is one of the most widespread and costly soil constraints to Western Australia s agricultural industry.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>Agricultural soil surrounding the central Wheatbelt town of Narembeen was highlighted as a  soil acidity priority area based on the outcomes of the soil acidity profile data which was collected as part of the Avon River Basin Soil Acidity Project Report (2009).<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:12.0pt'><span style='font-size: 9.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#333333'>Between February and March 2009, 452 sampling sites across 14 properties in the Narembeen area (Figure 1) were visited as part of an intensive soil acidity monitoring survey.
