About the program

This program will specifically support the groups to increase the knowledge and skills of the Wheatbelt community in order to participate in and directly contribute to the management of our natural resources and delivery of ecosystem services.

 

 

What will be funded?

The support will be available in three different ways from the Wheatbelt NRM’s Regional Landcare Facilitator to enhance the ability for groups to undertake on-ground activities:

 

(1) Community Event support

  • RLF will aid in the development of events with the successful NRM groups and is able to provide additional advertising of the events through the Wheatbelt NRM’s network.
  • Funding of up to a maximum of $500 is available to support the costs associated with the event. This may include (for example): The cost of facilitating presenters or speakers to attend the event
  • Up to $15 / head for catering at the event
  • Advertising of up to $100 in advertising / promotion of event

(2) Attendance at Conference

  • The Wheatbelt NRM Regional Landcare Facilitator will support up to $500 to pay the conference registration fee for one member from the group to attend a conference in Western Australia.

(3) Equipment Grant

  • $500 grant to enable community Groups to purchase equipment to assist the group to undertake on-ground NRM activities, ie banners, GPS, IPads, digital microscopes soil testing equipment etc.

Eligibility
  • Applications are invited from Community, Landcare, Grower and NRM Groups, Not for Profit Organisations, Community Organisations and Local Government.
  • You must demonstrate how the proposed event will increase the skills and knowledge of the community to manage our natural resources.
  • You must demonstrate that you are a Community Group in the region supporting community participation in NRM and have a valid ABN.
Assessment Criteria
  • The group’s planned event and individual’s conference attendance or equipment purchase should occur in the future and should be completed by the 30 October 2016. Past activities will not be funded;
  • The story may be used by Wheatbelt NRM for demonstration or promotional purposes;
  • Only one application may be submitted per group;
  • If you have any questions about your groups eligibility or other concerns about the application process please contact us to discuss it. It is better to talk to us than submit an application that may not be eligible;
  • A surveys of participates will need to be completed and forwarded to Wheatbelt NRM (provided by Wheatbelt NRM);
  • A brief report of the benefit of the activity undertaken will be required on completion and also the number of community members attending the event. Photos/videos of the event would also be appreciated as promotional material (a generic form will be provided).
